Synopsis:
Kaiju No. 8 Season 1 follows 32-year-old Kafka Hibino, a disillusioned Kaiju cleanup worker who dreams of joining the elite Defense Force alongside his childhood friend, the now-famous Captain Mina Ashiro, but after a parasitic Kaiju enters his body, he gains the ability to transform into the powerful, numbered monster, Kaiju No. 8, forcing him to hide his identity while trying to fulfill his dream and fight alongside Mina. The season establishes this world of giant monsters, Kafka's rekindled ambition with new recruit Reno Ichikawa, his accidental transformation, and his initial struggle to control his new powers and join the Force while keeping his monstrous secret safe, ending with him proving his worth to the Defense Force.
